The Story of Dioma: Passion, Resilience, and Innovation
1. The Roots of Dioma: A Journey That Began in 1967
Dioma was founded in Vicenza in 1967, born from the dream and vision of Leonardo Martini. Initially a small company, over time it has grown into a leading name in the production of molds and plastic components, initially for the automotive industry and later for many other sectors that require high technical and aesthetic precision. It’s a story of growth, built day by day, weaving together vision, innovation, and dedication.
In 1980, Cristina De Rosso joined the company as an employee and faced the prejudices typical of a traditionally male-dominated environment. As she recalls, “She’s small and fragile, she won’t last here” was the phrase that greeted her on her first day of work. But Cristina, with determination and expertise, proved them wrong. Her unwavering attention to detail was crucial in meeting the high standards of Mr. Martini, who required even the letters to be flawless, carefully crafted down to the smallest detail, and sometimes rewritten multiple times to ensure perfect aesthetic composition, with an obsessive focus on visual and stylistic details.
Over time, thanks to her persistence and professional approach, Cristina gained the trust and respect of the founder, becoming a key figure at Dioma and playing a decisive role in the company’s growth.
2. An Unexpected Challenge, A Brave Response
In 2014, the death of Mr. Martini marked a turning point for Dioma. Cristina, with over thirty years of experience, was faced with a life-changing surprise: upon reading the will, she discovered that the founder had chosen to leave the company to her. This decision sparked comments and speculation but reflected the deep respect built over the years.
“We never addressed each other informally, but we shared a long professional relationship based on mutual respect and hard work,” says Cristina. For Mr. Martini, Dioma was more than just a company: it was his life’s work, built with passion and dedication. By entrusting it to Cristina, he ensured not just continuity but a visionary future.
3. People at the Heart: The Soul of the Company
At Dioma, every component produced is the result of advanced technological processes and the contribution of a close-knit team. Cristina has always believed that the success of a company lies in its people. She focused on staff development and created an environment where skills and passion come together to achieve outstanding results.
Her personal story is a testament to resilience. Starting as an employee, Cristina climbed every rung of the company ladder, digitalizing the administrative area and managing strategic sectors such as planning, personnel, and administration. During her first pregnancy, she continued working without abandoning her responsibilities, balancing professional success and family life. When her second daughter was born, she embraced new technologies to work from home, showing that determination and organization can overcome any barrier.
Cristina not only broke the stereotypes of a male-dominated environment but also demonstrated that dedication, expertise, and passion lead to success.
4. A Look to the Future: Innovation and Sustainability
Today, Dioma is looking to the future, exploring new markets and focusing on innovative and sustainable projects. Collaborating with research institutes and introducing cutting-edge technologies are the hallmarks of a business vision that aims to make a difference in a constantly evolving market.
An important recognition of this vision came in 2021 with Cristina’s appointment as the national president of UCISAP (Union of Italian Precision Mold Makers). For the first time in 50 years, a woman held this role, not only highlighting her personal value but also marking a significant step toward greater gender inclusion in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
5. Dioma, A Story to Share
The story of Dioma is a powerful example of how passion, resilience, and vision can turn challenges into opportunities. It’s not just the story of a company but of a family that believes in teamwork and the importance of building a sustainable future.
As Cristina emphasizes: “I hope my experience can inspire especially young girls. Expertise, determination, curiosity, and enthusiasm are essential to face challenges: luck exists, but it only manifests through perseverance and ambition.”
A life and business lesson that looks to the future with the same visionary spirit that guided the company’s beginning in 1967.
